Suratchai Chenyavanij
Suratachai Chenyavanij started to play flute at the age of 15, took first lesson with Poranai Seelebkwa and studied flute with Anette Geroge at Payap University in Chiang Mai where he earned his bachelor degree with first class honor. While studying at Payap, Suratchai has selected to give honor recitals every semester. He was invited to join in numerous concerts both solo recitals and ensembles in Chiang Mai, such as the 1st Nimmanhemintr Festival Concert, APEC conference Grand Opening, and the Last Concert of Jaral Manopetch. Furthermore, he was also interested in performing many kinds of woodwind instruments, such as Klui (Thai Recorder), Chinese Flute and Ocarina, and has been always enjoying making his own musical instruments.
He is the first Thai student who received the musician scholarship from the Austrian government which enabled him to study with Hansgeorg Schmeiser at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna as an exchange student. He also joined as a guest musician in the Vienna Percussion Club Concert in 2002. A year later, he returned to Thailand and continued his study at College of Music, Mahidol University with Hiroshi Matsushima, and completed his Master of Music program in 2007.
He has given 2 solo recitals, both at Gong Dee Gallery in Chiang Mai as well as in Bangkok. After completion of his master study, he worked as an assistant teacher at the College of Music Mahidol University.
Currently, he is working as a flute teacher at the Superstar Academy and also runs his own flute studio "The Nest" in Bangkok.
